Yoli helps children…New Report Highlights Role Of Drinks In Daily Calorie Intake
August 26, 2009
I just read this new report about the consumption of drinks by children. It confirms what Yoli is putting together and why you and I and our children need Yoli now more than ever. We have to do better for our children. Please read the details below and give me your feedback in the comment section…
A new report(1) which gives insights into what parents of young children and teenagers themselves think about drinks has revealed that parents do not count drinks as part of their children’s daily food consumption. The report, commissioned by safefood, also revealed that parents and teenagers shared a number of similar concerns but had very different purchasing patterns in terms of where they bought drinks, what drinks they bought, and also what influenced them in making these decisions(2).
Commenting on the report, Dr. Cliodhna Foley-Nolan, Director, Human Health and Nutrition safefood said, “This research clearly shows that we as consumers have a bit of a blind spot about the contribution of liquids to our daily calorie intake. Many soft drinks on the market contain a lot of ‘added’ sugars and few nutrients for example, sweetened fruit juice drinks and fizzy soft drinks (Yoli is addressing this problem). Water, milk and pure, unsweetened fruit juice drinks are the healthiest drink options and any other drink should be seen as a ‘treat’. (These so called “healthy” drink are also not all that good for us – we can do better)
In addition, the report revealed that parents know milk and water are the healthiest options as drinks and that when parents made changes to the drinks they bought, their children adapted. (This is why we have to give Yoli a chance. We can make a difference. Do it for you and your family)
“Both parents and teenagers indicated that mindless consumption plays a huge role in what they eat and drink”, continued Dr. Foley-Nolan. “Teenagers said they always needed ‘a drink’ while they were hanging out, watching television or socializing with one another. It also emerged that the consumption of many drinks was down to habit and what children/teenagers were used to. (mindless consumption of Yoli will actually improve health with next to zero calorie intake) Many parents said they tried to reduce the number of fizzy drinks being purchased and were quite successful at doing this. When they made positive changes to the type of drinks consumed, despite some initial resistance, their children adapted and got used to it quite easily” she added. (Again, we can do this together with Yoli)
A common dilemma expressed by those surveyed for the report was that parental control over food intake is somewhat lost as children reach a certain age. The research indicated that teenagers were influenced by image, advertising and cost when choosing their drinks. The power of brand advertising and celebrity endorsement of certain drinks were seen as major reasons why young people choose certain drinks. Parents expressed the belief that the marketing and pack formats of certain drinks were attractive to children and that these factors encouraged their children to consume these drinks. (Yoli already has more than one Olympic athlete on board and we’ll see more celebrity alignment in the near future)
“We know from dietary intake research who consumes what type of drinks. This research reveals that parents feel that a sugary drink is more favourable than a sugary food as a treat and both, parents and teenagers, seem to ignore the significant calorie counts of many of the drinks consumed in our schools and homes”, said Dr. Foley-Nolan. “It also highlights the challenges faced by parents when purchasing soft drinks for their children and the influence of advertising on their purchasing habits”, she added. (Yoli can help us as parents change these habits)

Yoli Includes A Secret Weapon: Resveratrol…Video Reveals All
August 9, 2009
Recently, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about Yoli and their products. I was surprised that many of the questions about Yoli’s Truth formula were not about one ingredient I feel is going to make this health drink, and others that Yoli release in the future, a huge weapon to be used by each of us to fight off aging and improving our overall health.
Below is a video segment from 60 Minutes that aired recently discussing the research and benefits or Resveratrol.
I hope that you can now understand why Yoli included this powerful substance. Below I’ve included additional information from our friends over at Wikipedia…
Resveratrol (trans-resveratrol) is a phytoalexin produced naturally by several plants when under attack by pathogens such as bacteria or fungi. Resveratrol has also been produced by chemical synthesis and is sold as a nutritional supplement derived primarily from Japanese knotweed. In mouse and rat experiments, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, blood-sugar-lowering and other beneficial cardiovascular effects of resveratrol have been reported. Most of these results have yet to be replicated in humans. In the only positive human trial, extremely high doses (3–5 g) of resveratrol in a proprietary formulation have been necessary to significantly lower blood sugar. Resveratrol is found in the skin of red grapes and is a constituent of red wine, but apparently not in sufficient amounts to explain the French paradox. Experiments have shown that resveratrol treatment extended the life of fruit flies, nematode worms and short living fish but it did not increase the life span of mice.
Life extension
The groups of Howitz and Sinclair reported in 2003 in the journal Nature that resveratrol significantly extends the lifespan of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Later studies conducted by Sinclair showed that resveratrol also prolongs the lifespan of the worm Caenorhabditis elegans and the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. In 2007, a different group of researchers was able to reproduce Sinclair’s results with C. elegans, but a third group could not achieve consistent increases in lifespan of D. melanogaster or C. elegans.
In 2006, Italian scientists obtained the first positive result of resveratrol supplementation in a vertebrate. Using a short-lived fish, Nothobranchius furzeri, with a median life span of nine weeks, they found that a maximal dose of resveratrol increased the median lifespan by 56%. Compared with the control fish at nine weeks, that is by the end of the latter’s life, the fish supplemented with resveratrol showed significantly higher general swimming activity and better learning to avoid an unpleasant stimulus. The authors noted a slight increase of mortality in young fish caused by resveratrol and hypothesized that it is its weak toxic action that stimulated the defense mechanisms and resulted in the life span extension.
Later the same year, Sinclair reported that resveratrol counteracted the detrimental effects of a high-fat diet in mice. The high fat diet was compounded by adding hydrogenated coconut oil to the standard diet; it provided 60% of energy from fat, and the mice on it consumed about 30% more calories than the mice on standard diet. Both the mice fed the standard diet and the high-fat diet plus 22 mg/kg resveratrol had a 30% lower risk of death than the mice on the high-fat diet. Gene expression analysis indicated the addition of resveratrol opposed the alteration of 144 out of 155 gene pathways changed by the high-fat diet. Insulin and glucose levels in mice on the high-fat+resveratrol diet were closer to the mice on standard diet than to the mice on the high-fat diet. However, addition of resveratrol to the high-fat diet did not change the levels of free fatty acids and cholesterol, which were much higher than in the mice on standard diet. A further study by a group of scientists, which included Sinclair, indicated that resveratrol treatment had a range of beneficial effects in elderly mice but did not increase the longevity of ad libitum-fed mice when started midlife.
Cancer prevention
In 1997, Jang reported that topical resveratrol applications prevented the skin cancer development in mice treated with a carcinogen. There have since been dozens of studies of the anti-cancer activity of resveratrol in animal models. No results of human clinical trials for cancer have been reported. However, clinical trials to investigate the effects on colon cancer and melanoma (skin cancer) are currently recruiting patients.
In vitro resveratrol interacts with multiple molecular targets (see the mechanisms of action), and has positive effects on the cells of breast, skin, gastric, colon, esophageal, prostate, and pancreatic cancer, and leukemia. However, the study of pharmacokinetics of resveratrol in humans concluded that even high doses of resveratrol might be insufficient to achieve resveratrol concentrations required for the systemic prevention of cancer. This is consistent with the results from the animal cancer models, which indicate that the in vivo effectiveness of resveratrol is limited by its poor systemic bioavailability. The strongest evidence of anti-cancer action of resveratrol exists for tumors it can come into direct contact with, such as skin and gastrointestinal tract tumors. For other cancers, the evidence is equivocal, even if massive doses of resveratrol are used.
Thus, topical application of resveratrol in mice, both before and after the UVB exposure, inhibited the skin damage and decreased skin cancer incidence. However, oral resveratrol was ineffective in treating mice inoculated with melanoma cells. Resveratrol given orally also had no effect on leukemia and lung cancer; however, injected intraperitoneally, 2.5 or 10 mg/kg of resveratrol slowed the growth of metastatic Lewis lung carcinomas in mice. Resveratrol (1 mg/kg orally) reduced the number and size of the esophageal tumors in rats treated with a carcinogen. In several studies, small doses (0.02–8 mg/kg) of resveratrol, given prophylactically, reduced or prevented the development of intestinal and colon tumors in rats given different carcinogens.
Resveratrol treatment appeared to prevent the development of mammary tumors in animal models; however, it had no effect on the growth of existing tumors. Paradoxically, treatment of pre-pubertal mice with high doses of resveratrol enhanced formation of tumors. Injected in high doses into mice, resveratrol slowed the growth of neuroblastomas.
Resveratrol and experimental diabetes
Palsamy and Subramanian have recently published articles on the antihyperglycemic potential of resveratrol in experimental diabetic rats. In their study, the oral administration of resveratrol (5mg/kg b.w) to streptozotocin-nicotinamide-induced experimental diabetic rats for 30 days significantly normalizes the levels of blood glucose, plasma insulin, glycosylated hemoglobin, AST, ALP, ALT, and modulates the altered activities of carbohydrate metabolizing enzymes in the liver and kidney tissus of diabetic rats. The results thus obtained showed the antidiabetic property of resveratrol in experimental diabetes. Resveratol activates AMPK.
I hope this information has been helpful. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

Yoli’s Alka-Plex Technology…What does it mean for you and your body?
August 8, 2009
Yoli is making big waves these days and I get a lot of questions about the new company and its products. Today, I just wanted to show you a little bit of information about the Alka-Plex technology that Yoli is using in their products. It really brings a new level of nutrition and health to their offering so I wanted to get this information to you. Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions.
What is Alka-Plex and Why did Yoli include it in their products?
Alka-Plex® Granules are a proprietary mineral complex that is a very strong, yet very safe, alkalizing agent. A proprietary manufacturing process uses the patented Exact Blending and Compounding (“EBC”) equipment to produce the Alka-Plex® granule. The granules have three properties:
- Reduces the acidity of foods and beverages without damaging flavor;
- Increases absorbency of key nutrients; and
- Achieves a systemic alkaline balance in the body to improve healthy aging and athletic performance
Alka-Plex granules are manufactured using material science concepts. Crystalline carrier particles are assembled into finished granules from components the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have designated as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe). Furthermore, Alka-Plex is designated as a New Dietary Ingredient by the FDA – a recognition of uniformity and safety.
Diagram 1 – Schematic Representation of an Alka-Plex Granule

Reducing the Acidity of Foods and Beverages
Yoli’s Alka-Plex granules gradually release alkalizing agents in two gradual steps. The action is very gentle.
Nevertheless, Alka-Plex is very powerful. A very small amount (160mg or about a “pinch”) removes more than 90% of the mucosa active acids in a cup of coffee.
Alka-Plex granules are tasteless and quickly neutralize excess acids in coffee, sauces, and other foods that often cause stomach upset.
Increases Absorbency of Key Nutrients
Due to the unique structure of Alka-Plex, this hydrophilic granule opens mucosal membranes and improves the absorption of key nutrients. Alka-Plex also appears to have a gut cleansing and improves upper digestive tract functioning.
Systemic Alkaline Balance
Alka-Plex granules help balance and manage the complex and critical acid/alkaline relationship in the human body. Alka-Plex is a solution for low-grade, chronic acidosis – often described as “acidic stress.” Over 400 peer-review articles like low-grade acidosis with aging and dozens of problems associated with the aging process.
I think you get the picture…Yoli’s use of Alka-Plex means better health for me and you.
Would love your feedback!

Yoli Launches GoYoli.com…Giving Distributors What They Need To Succeed
August 7, 2009
Last night Yoli launched the new GoYoli.com distributor back office system. This system is simple to use and will make it very easy to track your Yoli business. The key with success in business is making sure you are organized and spending most of your time with people rather than shuffling papers and wondering where you left someone’s information. Once Yoli launches the system will have additional resources to further improve the tool.
For a one-time $19.95 you can get a complete back office (CRM) management system to help you grow your Yoli business before the doors even open. You also get an opportunity to get your own personal GoYoli website. It looks just like the Yoli webinar website but it is personalized and has a place for people to contact you for further information.
I hope this Yoli video has been helpful and I would highly recommend that you go over to GoYoli.com and set up your back office right away. (assuming you already got your distributor paperwork done)
